This is a 2D golf game with a redneck twist. Play though 9 courses and unlock special abilities for your ball like (gum ball) that sticks to whatever it hits and (updraft) which pushes your ball higher in the air. I changed ad services for this game and now use chartboost. I spent about six months making this game in my spare time. I did all the coding, art, and animation myself with the exception of a few free art assets I found on the unity store. This game is my latest and showcases some of the skills I've learned in my 4 years of game design.
Kool Kat vs. Zombie Rats is a game that I set a two-week milestone for myself to complete. I made my milestone and I believe I was able to make a pretty good game in the process. I made the cat and rats characters and animations with Gimp. I used Unity's 2d physics for shooting, rat body parts, and traps like the axe blades and rolling cactus. I published this game on the Google Play Store and the IOS App Store and this is the first of my games that uses in-app purchases.
Duck Destiny is a game I worked on for about five months. It's a mix between Super Mario Brothers style and Sonic The Hedgehog's health system with my own ideas of creation. I made most of the art and animation in this game using Gimp by making sprite sheets. I did all the programing in C# and programed this game so that the controls can easily be mapped for multiple platform including PC, Mobile, and Console (using a controller). I believe this game is my best work up to date. When I published this game I split the two worlds into two seperate builds on Google Play. Cut The Zombie Guts is a gut cutting physics puzzle game.The player collects 3 brains while
trying to reconnect the zombie's head to his body. Once the player reconnects the head with the body a bloody fatality happens to the zombie. I used Unity 5.3.5 to make this game. The game has 4 worlds with 9 levels in each world. I used player prefs to save the players progress and unlock a new level with the completion of the previous level. I used Unity's hinge joint 2d to hold the section of guts, ropes, and chains together. When the player's finger touches a section of the guts or ropes I turn the hinge joint component off to release the section of rope from the connected section. I completed This game in 2 weeks. Redneck IQ Test
Since I live in the country and am surrounded with the country culture I thought it was only logical to make a game that tested a person’s knowledge of the country culture. Redneck IQ Test is a game that asks a series of question that a person who lives in the city may not know, I also throw some brain teasers to mix up the monotony of answering one question after another. I believe the questions in this game are unique and interesting and in return I hoped to create a unique game. Redneck IQ Test is available on Google Play and IOS App Store.
I made this game as a demo to show off some of my level design skills. I designed this level to feel like a Russian bunker. I used Unity 3d's animation system to make flickering lights to give the aesthetics a creepy feel. I also used different shaders in combination with different types of lights to bounce the light off some materials and not other to give the level a more realistic feel.
Mountaineers Match 3
Mountaineers Match 3 is a sliding puzzle piece game where the player swaps pieces to connect 3 like pieces. Points are awarded for making matches and the connected pieces are destroyed. If the player matches 5 like pieces in a row or column a mountaineer’s piece is spawned. Mountaineer pieces destroy every like piece on the board that it is swapped with. Swap 2 mountaineer pieces to destroy all pieces on the board and score huge point. I made three game modes. Time challenge where the player has a time limit to score a predetermined amount of points. Turn challenge where the player has a predetermined amount of moves to score a certain amount of points. And brick challenge where the player must destroy all the brick on the screen by making a match next to the adjacent brick.
I made this game to sell on mobile and PC. It's a 3rd person shooter with four levels and a tutorial. The player is a bounty hunter named Rowdy and the objective is to collect each bounty without losing all your lives. The player uses a pistol and can collect or buy an assault rifle upgrade. I also gave the player the ability to collect money, health, and speed upgrades. The player also has the ability to hypnotize enemies to stop them in there tracks. The amount of time the player can use the ability is determined with a slider bar that decreases when the player is using the ability and increases when the player kills enemies. I used ray casting for shooting and the Unity UI slider for the hypnotize ability. I used keyboard presses for the PC version and a joystick for the on screen button for the mobile version. The player can walk in eight directions and shoot in three directions (upper left, strait, and upper right). Press the see code button to see the hypnotize ability code.
This is a game made for Final Project at Full Sail University. I was on a team of four people and we had three months to complete the project. The player is a chameleon that can turn colors to avoid enemies plus uses his tongue to collect butterflies and slingshot from anchor points instead of being able to jump. In addition to using my programming and game design skills I also rigged and animated the chameleon in this game using Maya. Stackin Puppies is a game I made in one day. I wanted to make something quick and fun so I decided to make a game where the player shoots puppies out of a cannon onto a dog bed while trying to stack the puppies as high as they can. If a puppy lands on anything other than the bed or another puppy the game is over and the player restarts the game and tries again.
2D Sprite Sheet Animations
These are three sprite sheets I made with Gimp by drawing an egg and a duck and putting their components on different layers. Then I used those layers to make frames for an animation that shows the egg rocking side to side, crack, and then a duck rises from inside the egg. I took these sprite sheets into Unity 5 and made an intro animation to use as brand logo that plays after the game engines logo.
